Day In, Day Out

She had always been a fan of the still, slow mornings as much as she knew how long the day ahead would be. She needed the energy to focus on the things that mattered and shut off the thoughts that meant nothing. She was just glad to have found her perfect distraction.
In retrospect, it was just weeks ago when she was absolutely clueless of where the days would take her and what was in store ahead. Yet now, she couldn't imagine being anywhere else. She knew exactly what this meant to her but she still took her chances. He seemed to be worth all the feelings she was willing to risk; a risk only her heart knew off, yet her mind constantly questioned.
Day in, day out, he ran constant tracks in her mind always beginning and ending in the same spot. A spot she knew he belonged to; a spot she kept especially for him.
Her life was beginning to have colors and things she only wished for then were in fruition now.
She shoved off the same thoughts as she poured two cups of his favorite coffee – her eyes fixated on the beautiful sight of him. She approached to wake him up, longing for the face that would brighten the rest of her morning and his smile which she needed to get a head-start to the day.
She thought of all the times her mind stopped her heart. Would this kill her?
No. Not at all.
It is when the heart stops beating - - that's when one actually dies.
